    Green Smoothie Template

A long time ago, I published a 'template' for any pureed vegetable soup. Given my recent acquisition of a Vitamix blender (thanks Jack!!), I'd like to do the same thing for green smoothies.

Breakfast is always a challenging meal for me and I've found green smoothies to be the most nutritious way to make that meal happen. I'll take a couple of mason jars to work and sip away throughout the morning. If I wind up eating a hamburger for dinner, at least I know that I've gotten all my veggies for the day!

    1 whole lemon, peeled
    +
1 thumbnail piece of ginger (don't bother peeling it)
    +
    1/2 cucumber/ stalk of celery
    +
    Flesh of one avocado
    +
1 tbsp of chia seeds/ hemp seeds/ flax seeds/ raw cashews (soak nuts and seeds in water overnight to soften)
    +
1 tbsp of goji berries/ dried coconut/ 1 dried date/ any other dried fruit (soak overnight to rehydrate)
    +
    1 banana
    +
    handful of kale/ spinach/ sprouts/ microgreens
    +
    1 tsp matcha
    +
    1 tsp cayenne
    +
    1 tsp cinnamon (sometimes two!)
    +
    Water/ almond milk/ kombucha/ Ceres fruit juice

No two green smoothies are ever the same. Sometimes there is more fruit, sometimes all veggie. Generally, I don't like them too thick so I add enough water that it's easy to drink down.

What do you add to your green smoothies? I'm always interested in new ways to jazz them up!
