    Harvest Moon

When I attended that Miracle Fruit tasting, Laura Reinsborough did a small presentation on behalf of Not Far From The Tree, an organization that harvests urban fruit.

I was so impressed with her and the mandate of the organization. (I had actually intended to write a blog post about it long ago!)

From a PR standpoint, Laura spoke concisely, humbly and eloquently. From an environmental stanpoint, tonnes of edible fruits are wasted every year in Toronto because people don't know what to do with them!

Some of the fruits NFFT get from properties like Casa Loma are no longer even available in grocery stores! You could eat some history!

To celebrate the end of the organization's harvest, Not Far From the Tree will be throwing a party to celebrate the wrap of their fruit-picking season.

There will be fresh-pressed apple cider from urban apples, hors d'oeuvres catered by The Local Cafe and drawings for door prizes. Wes Allen will be DJing and they will be serving local beers, wines and cocktails, including the NFFT signature elderberry cocktail designed by Sharon Bergey of Jamie Kennedy Kitchens.

Tickets are $10 and include your food, drinks, and entertainment. All proceeds help build the worthy programs for the 2010 season.

All are welcome to attend this event, but space is limited so get your tickets fast!

Purchase them online here or over the phone by calling (416) 908-3022.

    Doors open at 6:30pm
    Party from 7:00-10:00pm

Neat! I'm hoping to make it too. It sounds like a really thoughtful event.
